Greater Accra witnessed an impressive display of heritage, unity, and cultural pride during the four-day Wasan Sallah – Buude Yelle festival, a landmark event hosted by Alhaji Is-hak Sulleman Naaba Sigirie (I), Greater Accra Moshie Chief, together with Hajia Mariam Saleh Sinare, the Greater Accra Moshie Queen Mother (Magajiya).
The well-attended celebration brought together traditional leaders, community members, youth groups, and invited guests from across the region and beyond. Designed to coincide with the festive spirit of Sallah, the program served as both a cultural showcase and a platform for strengthening community cohesion among the Moshie people and their wider network.
Over the course of four days, the event featured a carefully curated lineup of activities, including traditional music and dance performances, cultural exhibitions, storytelling sessions, and ceremonial gatherings. These activities highlighted the rich history, values, and identity of the Moshie community, while also promoting intergenerational knowledge transfer.
The festival grounds came alive with vibrant displays of traditional attire, rhythmic drumming, and energetic performances that captivated audiences. Cultural troupes delivered performances that reflected themes of unity, resilience, and respect for heritage. Elders used the occasion to educate younger generations on customs, moral values, and the importance of preserving their cultural roots in a rapidly modernizing society.
In addition to its cultural significance, the event also fostered social interaction and community development. It created opportunities for networking, dialogue, and collaboration among stakeholders, reinforcing a shared commitment to peace, inclusiveness, and cultural sustainability in Greater Accra.
Delivering his closing remarks, Alhaji Is-hak Sulleman Naaba Sigirie (I) commended the collective effort that ensured the success of the celebration. He emphasized that preserving culture is a shared responsibility and called for continued support to sustain such initiatives.
“This celebration reflects who we are as a people—our history, our values, and our unity. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed in diverse ways to make this program a success,” he stated.
